The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is the leading International Professional body for all sectors of the Transport and Logistics Industry. Founded in the United Kingdom in 1919 and granted a Royal Charter on the 26 th of November, 1926 , the CILT was actually established to promote knowledge of the science and art of Logistics and Transport and to provide a source of authoritative views for communication to government, industry and the community at large.
Membership provides a professional identity to those in the logistics and transport sector, as well as international recognition. The Institute’s professional qualifications educate not only those already in the sector, but also those wishing to enter into it.
The Institute is represented worldwide with Territorial Organisations and Institute Branches. Each Territorial Organisation and Institute Branch is, in its own right, a separate organisation representing the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in their territory. They all share the common cause of achieving the Institute’s principal objective.
